Company Introduction:

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is a government ministry of India. It is responsible for formulating and implementing defence policy, managing the defence budget, overseeing the procurement of defence equipment, and administering the various defence production Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and Ordnance Factories. Its primary role is to coordinate and supervise all agencies and functions of the government relating directly to national security and the Indian Armed Forces.

Type of Entity:

The Ministry of Defence itself is neither a factory nor a trader. It is a governmental administrative body. However, it supervises and owns a number of defence public sector undertakings (DPSUs) and ordnance factories across India, which are involved in manufacturing (factories) a wide range of defence equipment. The Ministry also acts as the primary procurement agency for the Indian Armed Forces, engaging in large-scale acquisition of defence goods and services, which involves activities akin to large-scale purchasing or trading.

The GOVT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF DEFENCE itself is not a manufacturing or selling company. Instead, it oversees various Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and Ordnance Factories which are responsible for the production and sale of a wide range of defense equipment and systems. These include:

1. Aircraft and Helicopters: Fighter jets, trainer aircraft, transport aircraft, multi-role helicopters, utility helicopters.

2. Warships and Submarines: Destroyers, frigates, corvettes, patrol vessels, submarines, auxiliary vessels, specialized naval craft.

3. Tanks and Armored Vehicles: Main battle tanks, infantry combat vehicles, armored recovery vehicles, mine protected vehicles, specialized military trucks.

4. Missiles and Missile Systems: Surface-to-air missiles, air-to-air missiles, anti-tank guided missiles, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, torpedoes.

5. Artillery Guns and Small Arms: Field guns, howitzers, anti-aircraft guns, assault rifles, carbines, pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles.

6. Ammunition: Artillery shells, tank ammunition, small arms ammunition, rockets, bombs, grenades, flares, pyrotechnics.

7. Radars and Electronic Warfare Systems: Surveillance radars, fire control radars, electronic countermeasures, electronic support measures, communication jammers.

8. Communication Equipment: Secure radios, satellite communication systems, tactical communication equipment, data links.

9. Opto-electronic Devices: Night vision devices, thermal imagers, laser range finders, periscopes, binoculars, weapon sights.

10. Engineering Equipment: Bridging systems, mine-laying equipment, construction equipment, special purpose vehicles for military engineering.

11. Explosives and Propellants: Various types of explosives, propellants for rockets and missiles, igniters.

12. Military Hardware Components: Specialized materials, components, and sub-systems for various defense platforms.

13. Troop Comfort Items: Parachutes, uniforms, tents, bulletproof vests, and other personal equipment for armed forces.
