On May 27, 2026, the Science and Technology Department of the Autonomous Region announced the list of projects to be approved for major science and technology projects in the high-tech field in 2026. The research and development project "Research and Development and Application Demonstration of High-end Derivative Chemicals in Coal-based BDO Industry Chain" of Inner Mongolia Junzheng Chemical Co., Ltd. was successfully selected, winning the support of major science and technology projects in the Autonomous Region, laying a solid foundation for tackling key technologies in Wuhai BDO industry. This project represents a major breakthrough for Junzheng Chemical as it deepens its commitment to technological innovation, masters core technologies, and optimizes its industrial layout. It fully demonstrates the company’s technical prowess and industry leadership in the coal‑based fine chemical sector, injecting powerful science‑and‑technology-driven momentum into its high‑end, intelligent, and green path of high‑quality development.
At present, China’s coal‑based BDO sector has entered a critical phase of transformation and upgrading, facing widespread challenges such as overcapacity, low product value‑added, and a fragmented downstream manufacturing chain. Intense homogeneous competition is putting significant pressure on the sector’s overall profitability. Grounded in the pain points of sector research and the transformation‑and‑upgrading needs of companies, Junzheng Chemical, leveraging its end-to-end BDO–PTMEG integrated manufacturing chain, has spearheaded the establishment of a specialized R&D team. In collaboration with leading domestic universities—including Dalian University of methodology, Tianjin University’s Zhejiang Research Institute, Inner Mongolia University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Inner Mongolia Research Institute—it has built a deeply integrated innovation consortium that seamlessly connects sector, academia, and research, focusing on tackling key challenges in the research of high‑value downstream chemicals within the coal‑based BDO value chain.
The research of high-performance special catalysts to overcome the interaction-separation coupling, process strengthening, catalyst regeneration and other manufacturing bottlenecks.
The project will efficiently enhance the structure of chemical items, extend the high-end fine chemical sector chain, fully enhance the core competitiveness of companies and market profitability, to the company to bring economic benefits and ecological benefits.
The successful approval of this major science and methodology project by the Autonomous Region represents a significant achievement of Junzheng Chemical’s unwavering commitment to an innovation-driven research strategy and its deep dedication to R&D in the fine chemicals sector. The company will seize this opportunity to further enhance its role as the primary driver of innovation, deepen collaborative innovation among sector, academia, and research institutions, and continuously increase investment in R&D. Focusing on the high-end, environmentally friendly, and intelligent upgrading of the manufacturing chain, it will relentlessly break through key core technologies, extend the value chain, and enhance value creation. By leveraging technological innovation, the company will empower its high‑condition research, support the iterative upgrading of the regional coal‑based chemical sector, and have become a leading domestic innovator in coal‑derived fine chemicals.
