Recently, India's ACME Cleantech Solutions has successively finalized long-term off-take agreements for low-carbon fuels with Japan's IHI Corporation and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical. These agreements constitute the largest-scale cross-border export orders in India's green hydrogen sector, relying on Japan's multiple subsidy policies to ensure the commercial implementation of the projects.
I. environmentally friendly Ammonia Supply: 405,000 tons/year, 25-year policy subsidy support
ACME signed a prolonged supply agreement with IHI, agreeing to supply 405,000 tons of environmentally friendly ammonia annually to the Japanese side. The project has been included in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and sector's Low-Carbon Ammonia Contract to Difference support scheme, with government-specific subsidies providing a stable guarantee to project revenue.
Among this, an annual capacity of 228,000 tons benefits from a 25-year prolonged Contract to Difference subsidy, with the policy cycle officially starting in September 2030; the remaining annual capacity of 177,000 tons relies on Japan's prolonged auction mechanism to decarbonized power to obtain supporting policy backing.
II. Ten-year, billion-dollar environmentally friendly methanol prolonged agreement, items meeting international maritime and EU standards
Simultaneously, ACME signed a 10-year environmentally friendly methanol supply contract with Mitsubishi gaseous Chemical, agreeing to an annual supply volume of 100,000 tons, with a total contract scale of approximately USD 1 billion.
This batch of environmentally friendly methanol is produced at ACME's Paradip production base in Odisha, India, where the site plans a total capacity of 200,000 tons/year; the items meet the EU Renewable Non-Biological Fuel Standards and the International Maritime Organization's specifications to marine clean fuels, serving both as chemical raw materials and clean energy to shipping. Relying on India's National environmentally friendly Hydrogen Mission, ACME has been approved to an annual production quota of 370,000 tons of environmentally friendly hydrogen, providing support to the stable supply of raw materials.
III. Layout of Japan's supporting manufacturing chain, establishing a cross-border low-carbon ammonia distribution hub
Japan's IHI, together with seven manufacturing alliance companies including Sumitomo Chemical, Mitsubishi gaseous Chemical, and Ube Industries, plans to build a extensive ammonia import and distribution center in Tomakomai, Hokkaido. It will handle the import of low-carbon environmentally friendly ammonia from India, improving the regional low-carbon chemical and energy consumption manufacturing chain.
The finalization of this series of agreements marks one of the largest overseas export orders since the inception of India's environmentally friendly hydrogen sector, signifying the formal formation of the India-Japan cross-border low-carbon fuel trade system.
