Recently, Quanzhou Customs in Fujian Province said that Quanzhou exported 432000 tons of basic organic chemicals in the first half of the year, an increase of 19.2 percent over the same period last year. Among them, toluene and styrene were exported 46000 tons and 21000 tons respectively, up 54.7 and 9.8 times respectively.

As one of the nine major petrochemical bases planned by the state, Quanzhou has formed a strong production capacity of over 29 million tons of oil refining and 2.1 million tons of ethylene per year. Its manufacturing chain has been extended and upgraded from "crude oil-oil items" to "crude oil-oil items and chemicals items". A complete manufacturing chain covering oil refining to chemical fiber, plastics, special gaseous and fine chemistry has taken shape. Among them, while making up to the shortcomings of the petrochemical sector chain in Fujian Province, basic organic chemicals have increased their efforts to open up the international market and achieved significant results. Last year, Quanzhou exported 575000 tons of basic organic chemicals; the export varieties gradually increased from only one toluene in 2020 to 45 last year, and then to 60 in the first half of this year.
