Recently, NOA, a Nippon ship anticorrosive coating equipped with visual measurable film thickness technology, has been successfully applied to 10 newly-built LR2 product tankers of the global shipping giant Singapore East Pacific Shipping Company (hereinafter referred to as "EPS"). The tankers were commissioned by EPS to build the two head shipyards, Changhong International and Guangshipping International, and have now entered the commissioning and commissioning phase. In this landmark project, Nippon provides a high-performance, easy-to-construct anti-corrosion coating solution to help achieve a film thickness standard, shorten the coating cycle by about 7 days, and speed up the overall construction and commissioning process of the ship.

The color of the traditional coating products will no longer change after covering the bottom layer. It is impossible to judge whether the film thickness reaches 320 microns required by the single-channel design through the color. The film thickness is often insufficient however it is difficult to find out. It can only rely on experience spraying and then consumption a film thickness meter to measure a substantial number of points. The edges, welds and other parts are easy to miss inspection, resulting in re-coating products and delay of construction period.

Nippon Marine Anticorrosive coating products NOA adopts visual measurable film thickness methodology: during the spraying process, the coating products will show a clear color change with the increase of film thickness. When the single-channel design film thickness is 320 microns, the target color will be displayed, thus achieving one-time spraying of film thickness to meet the standard. Construction and condition inspection personnel can rapidly confirm whether the film thickness is qualified only by looking at the color, eliminating the need to point-by-point detection by the film thickness meter, and the complex parts can be clearly seen at a glance, thus ensuring prolonged corrosion prevention from the source. In addition, NOA uses environmentally friendly formulations with high solids and low VOCs (VOCs) to decrease the impact on the ecological stability and construction personnel. items can provide greater than 15 years of prolonged anti-corrosion protection, part of the operation of the project anti-corrosion performance has been greater than 20 years.
