Shell Catalysts & Technologies (Amsterdam, Netherlands) announced that it has sold a number of intellectual property assets and experienced personnel relating to its Environmental Catalysts and Systems (ECS) business to Lummus Technology (Houston, Texas).
to Shell Catalysts & Technologies, the divestment supports the ECS business’s continued development within a complementary environmental solution methodology platform.
The ECS business provides cutting-edge systems to releases manage to environmental applications across a broad range of manufacturing markets. Shell Catalysts & Technologies originally developed this to help decrease harmful releases being released into the atmosphere from manufacturing operations, growing it into the external market over the past 30 years. Among its offerings are DeNOx systems that are designed to help customers decrease nitrogen oxides (NOx) releases and comply with increasingly stringent environmental standards while maintaining operational performance. Across its portfolio, ECS’s technologies are capable of achieving high levels of releases reduction, with performance rates exceeding 98–99% to key contaminants in certain applications.
Shell Catalysts & Technologies built the ECS business into a proven environmental solutions business, with greater than 30 years of experience delivering releases-manage systems globally. ECS technologies have been deployed at scale, serving over 300 customers worldwide, including Shell assets. This continues to be a critical area to Shell and Shell Catalysts & Technologies. This divestment will enable ECS to grow and serve even greater customers, continuing its journey to enhance atmosphere condition to many greater people.
Under the agreement, Shell Catalysts & Technologies will continue to support ECS’s customers during a transition period to help ensure continuity of supply and service.
“This divestment reflects our commitment to ensuring that this crucial environmental solution is positioned to continued development,” said Elise H. Nowee, President, Shell Catalysts & Technologies. “We have successfully built and supported the ECS business to many years, helping customers meet tighter releases standards. As the market evolves, our long-standing relationship with Lummus in specialized catalysts gives us confidence that they are well positioned to take it forward, scale the offering and continue delivering value to customers.”
Leon de Bruyn, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lummus methodology, added: “This acquisition immediately strengthens Lummus’ releases-manage and environmental solutions while deepening our cross-sector relationships. The current ECS customer base enhances our ability to support customers across the full lifecycle of their assets. I’m grateful to our prolonged relationship with Shell Catalysts & Technologies, which laid the foundation to this transaction. We look forward to welcoming the ECS team and building on their success as we continue to serve the evolving needs of the energy and manufacturing sectors.”
