55 million yuan investment: Dawn Polymer expands capacity with 20,000 tons of high-end copolymer elastomers

On August 4, the Yantai Ecology and Environment Bureau released the public notice for the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment documents. The "Annual Production of 20,000 Tons of New High-Temperature Copolymer Elastomers Project" of Shandong Dawn Polyester New Materials Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dawn Shares, has entered the public notice phase. The public notice period is from August 3 to August 14, 2026, totaling 10 working days.

I. Project Investment and Construction Plan

The project involves a total investment of 55 million yuan and covers an area of 1,200 square meters. The plan involves constructing two copolyester production lines in two phases.

· Phase I: Construct one production line with a designed capacity of 10,000 tons of copolyester items, including 1,000 tons of PETG, 8,000 tons of PCTG, and 1,000 tons of PCT resin;

· Phase II: Construct another production line of the same scale, with a capacity configuration consistent with Phase I.

The overall construction cycle to the project is from December 2025 to December 2028. Specifically, Phase I is planned to be completed and put into operation in June 2027, and Phase II is expected to be completed in December 2028. Upon full production, the project will achieve a total capacity of 2,000 tons of PETG, 16,000 tons of PCTG, and 2,000 tons of PCT resin.

II. Core Product Characteristics and Downstream consumption Scenarios

PCT, PETG, and PCTG all belong to the category of high-end copolyester materials. PCT resin replaces the ethylene glycol (EG) in PET raw materials with 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM). Its heat deflection temperature is increased by over 30°C compared to PET, highlighting its high-temperature resistance. It is mostly utilized in electronic and electrical circuit board components, connectors, and automotive parts.

Virgin PCT material is brittle and prone to crystallization. By adding ethylene glycol (EG) to modification, a highly transparent, amorphous modified copolyester is obtained.

· PETG: Ethylene glycol accounts to >50%, offering outstanding rigidity and strength;

· PCTG: CHDM accounts to >50%, offering excellent flexibility and impact resistance, and is broadly utilized in fields such as plastic aquatic environments bottles, cosmetic packaging, and medical devices.
