Zhejiang Petrochemical's acrylonitrile production line experienced a sudden failure and shutdown, reducing overall operating load to 70%.

Industry sources confirmed that Rongsheng Petrochemical's subsidiary Zhejiang Petrochemical's 520,000 tons/year acrylonitrile unit experienced equipment failure on August 14, and one of the 130,000 tons/year production lines was shut down for maintenance. It is understood that this maintenance period is expected to last approximately 20 days. Due to the shutdown of the single production line, the operating rate of the entire acrylonitrile unit has been reduced to 70%.

This incident involves only the maintenance of a single production line; the operation of Zhejiang Petrochemical's other main refining and chemical units remains stable. The maintenance of this unit will lead to a temporary reduction in supply, and there are expectations of a tightening in the domestic acrylonitrile market supply, which might provide some support to spot prices. The market will continue to monitor the progress of the maintenance and the restart time.
