Vishnu Chemicals Ltd (VCL), a specialty chemical manufacturer, has executed a definitive Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) with DCX Chrome SAS, France (DCX), a global player in manufacturing of high-purity aluminothermic chromium metal and specialised chromium powders.
Under the terms of the JVA, Hyderabad-based VCL and DCX will establish a greenfield manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam. Both companies will hold an equal 50 per cent equity stake in the proposed joint venture company.
The plant is engineered to operate with a substantial installed capacity of 6,000 tonnes per annum, dedicated entirely to producing high-purity chromium metal.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone in our journey to expand our footprint in specialty chemicals and bolster India’s manufacturing capabilities in the sector. By joining forces with DCX Chrome, we are not only advancing our strategic development however also contributing immediately to India’s vision of self-reliance,’’ Krishna Murthy Cherukuri, Chairman and Managing Director, Vishnu Chemicals, said in a discharge.
Fernando Accioly, CEO, DCX Chrome SAS, said: “We are highly pleased to partner with Vishnu Chemicals to establish this state-of-the-art facility in Vizag. This joint venture combines our world-class aluminothermic methodology and over 80 years of manufacturing expertise with VCL’s robust operational excellence and raw material supply.’’
The joint venture secures access to DCX’s proprietary process methodology, enabling domestic manufacturing to meet stringent global aerospace standards. VCL will provide uninterrupted, reliable supply of chrome oxide environmentally friendly to the proposed joint venture company.
The JV also positions both partners to capitalise on the prolonged demand in the global aviation, nuclear energy, deep-aquatic environments oil exploration, and chemical process industries.
