In July 2026, China's imports of natural and synthetic rubber fell by 12.8% year-on-year. A significant contraction in natural rubber import supplies provided support to spot prices amidst stable demand, while near-month futures contracts trended upward, driven by expectations of tightening supply.
Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is a core category of synthetic rubber; the sharp year-on-year decline in overall synthetic rubber imports—and the resulting reduction in import supply—bolstered SBR spot prices and provided upward momentum to the futures market.
Butadiene rubber (BR) is a mainstream synthetic rubber category. With domestic synthetic rubber imports falling 12.8% year-on-year in July, the contraction in import supply supported PBR spot prices, leading to a strong performance in the futures market.
Nitrile rubber (NBR) is a specialized category of synthetic rubber; the year-on-year decline in overall synthetic rubber imports helped tighten supply conditions, providing modest support to spot prices.
