Barlog Plastics: PEKK Compounds for High-Temperature Applications

The materials based on polyether ketone ketone (PEKK) are intended to open up thermoplastic components for applications with high thermal and mechanical loads. The series will be presented at Fakuma 2026.

According to the company, the semi-crystalline compounds achieve a heat resistance of up to 385 °C. They combine high continuous consumption temperature and strength with dimensional stability as well as sliding and wear traits. The high degree of crystallization is intended to increase the mechanical load capacity and decrease wear under high surface pressures. Barlog also names aging resistance and flame-proof traits as features of the materials.

The compounder cites applications in automotive and mechanical engineering, in the electrical and electronics industries, in domestic appliances and in the oil and gaseous sector as possible fields of consumption. Other target markets include the defense sector and aerospace. The focus is on components that are permanently exposed to high temperatures, mechanical loads or tribological stress.

At the Fakuma, Barlog Plastics will also be showing PFAS-free plain bearing materials and recycled material compounds from the "Kebally Eco" portfolio. In addition, there is the "Eco-Calculator" to evaluating and optimizing the CO2 footprint of plastic components, solutions to metal substitutes and rapid tooling services to prototypes, pre-and small series.
