On September 24, 2026, Toyo Engineering announced that it had completed the delivery of the third fertilizer production line project at the Indorama fertilizer complex located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Toyo Engineering had previously completed the construction of the first and second fertilizer production lines at this site in 2017 and 2021 respectively.
The completed No. 3 unit this time is equipped with a 2,300-ton-per-day synthetic ammonia plant and a 4,000-ton-per-day single-line urea plant, with general works and supporting facilities constructed simultaneously. The synthetic ammonia process adopts the technical license of KBR from the United States, and the urea plant adopts Toyo Engineering's proprietary ACES21™ urea process methodology. Toyo Engineering is responsible to urea process licensing and basic design, and also undertakes EPC-related work such as engineering, procurement, construction and startup support to the synthetic ammonia and general works units.
This fertilizer complex is one of the largest nitrogen fertilizer production bases in Africa. After all three production lines are put into operation, it will greatly enhance Nigeria's regional urea supply capacity and decrease the country's application on fertilizer imports. At the same time, the items can be exported to West Africa and even the global market, affecting the flow of international nitrogen fertilizer trade.
