Expanded from 9,000 tons to 17,280 tons! India's Balaji Amines put new acetonitrile plant into operation

Mumbai (ICIS) News: Indian specialty and intermediate chemical enterprise Balaji Amines announced that the newly built acetonitrile plant at its three production sites in Solapur, western Maharashtra, has officially commenced operations, and the company's nominal annual acetonitrile production capacity has thus increased from 9,000 tons to 17,280 tons.

The company announced to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on September 24 that the acetonitrile plant started production on September 24, and its items will be supplied to both the domestic Indian market and overseas international markets. The enterprise stated that the commissioning of the new plant will further enhance regional supply capabilities and provide support to future business development.

According to the company's 2025-26 fiscal year annual report, the No.2 plant of its subsidiary Balaji Specialty Chemicals Limited (BSCL) is expected to be completed and put into operation in March 2027. In addition, the 100,000-ton-per-year dimethyl ether (DME) plant at its four production sites in Solapur, Maharashtra, is scheduled to commence operations in might 2026.
