According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the average market price for 55% powdered ammonium biphosphate (MAP) in the Hubei region was 3,656 RMB/ton on October 16, compared to 3,743 RMB/ton on October 8; the market price for ammonium biphosphate fell by 2.32% over the past week.
Market Analysis
The market to ammonium biphosphate (MAP) trended weaker last week. The price of sulfur—a key raw material—continued to decline, weakening cost-side support. Downstream compound fertilizer producers limited their purchases to immediate needs, adopting a cautious approach, which led to a downward shift in transaction prices. As of October 16, market quotes to 55% powdered MAP were approximately 3,600-3,700 RMB/ton in Hubei, 3,700-3,750 RMB/ton in Henan, and 3,650-3,750 RMB/ton in Sichuan.
Regarding the raw material sulfur: Sulfur prices remained weak last week, with sluggish market trading and holders primarily focused on offloading their stocks. Downstream buyers are exercising caution, largely adopting a "wait-and-see" approach. Sulfur prices are expected to remain on the weak side in the near term.
Overall Outlook
Analysts at SunSirs who track the ammonium biphosphate (MAP) market observe that recent price trends have been primarily downward. Weakening raw material prices have reduced cost support, and with the autumn fertilizer season nearing its end, market demand remains sluggish. Consequently, the MAP market is expected to remain weak in the short term.
