tert-butyl phenol, the chemical formula is C10H14O, is a colorless or pale yellow liquid with a special odor and a molecular weight of 142.22. It has good chemical stability and thermal stability, and is an important organic chemical raw material and intermediate. Tert-butyl phenol is widely used in pesticide, medicine, dyes, spices and rubber industries. In the pesticide industry, it is the raw material for the synthesis of a variety of pesticides and herbicides; in the pharmaceutical industry, tert-butyl phenol is used to synthesize a variety of drugs, such as antibacterial drugs; in the dye industry, it is used to manufacture a variety of organic dyes Raw materials; in addition, tert-butyl phenol is also used to produce rubber antioxidants to improve the aging resistance of rubber. As a multifunctional chemical raw material, tert-butylphenol has a wide range of applications in many industrial fields.
(1) Tert-butyl phenol is widely used in the field of antioxidants. Four isomers of tert-butylphenol, including o-tert-butylphenol, p-tert-butylphenol, 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol, can be used as antioxidants. Hindered phenolic antioxidants are mostly used in rubber and plastic products, polyurethane products and other polymer fields because of their good antioxidant effect, high thermal stability and low toxicity.
(2) Tert-butyl phenol is also used in the production of spices, pesticides, phenolic resins, and as a raw material for synthetic resins, pharmaceuticals, pesticide intermediates and flavors and fragrances. For example, 4-tert-butylphenol can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and pharmaceutical chemistry, as a raw material for the synthesis of the acaricidal agent propargite on pesticides, and as a raw material for the synthesis of a new variety of fungicides.
(3) Tert-butyl phenol can also be used in the production of oil-soluble tackifying resins and as a raw material for polyvinyl chloride stabilizers. It can also be used for the modification of epoxy resin, the modification of xylene resin, as well as the stabilizer of rubber soap chlorinated hydrocarbons and digested fibers, ultraviolet absorbers, pesticide rubber coatings and other anti-cracking agents.
