Company Profile:
FORD INDIA PVT LTD Company Introduction
FORD INDIA PVT LTD was primarily a manufacturer.
Company Introduction:
Ford India Private Limited was the Indian subsidiary of the American automotive giant Ford Motor Company. Established in 1995, it played a significant role in the Indian automotive market for several decades. The company was responsible for manufacturing, marketing, and servicing a range of Ford vehicles, including popular models like the Figo, EcoSport, Aspire, Endeavour, and Fusion.
Ford India operated two major manufacturing plants in India: one in Maraimalai Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and another in Sanand, Gujarat. These facilities produced vehicles for the domestic market as well as for export to numerous countries.
While Ford India also engaged in the sale and distribution of its manufactured vehicles (acting as a trader in that context), its fundamental nature and core investment in the country were centered around its extensive manufacturing operations.
In 2021, Ford announced its decision to cease vehicle manufacturing in India, citing accumulated operating losses. However, the company maintains a presence in India through its engineering and business services operations, as well as by offering after-sales support, parts, and a scaled-down portfolio of imported vehicles.
