Covestro TPU Application Development Center Enabled

On May 20, Covestro officially opened its new thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) application development center in Guangzhou, which is another important milestone in the company's strategic process of further approaching Asia-Pacific customers. The new center, together with the company’s world-largest TPU production facility that went into operation in Zhuhai earlier this year and its existing regional R&D center in Changhua, will be mutually complementary, jointly forming a synergistic TPU business network that integrates research and development, application development, and large-scale manufacturing.

Covestro pointed out that the TPU market in the Asia-Pacific region, especially the South China market, continues to show strong demand in fast-growing areas such as consumer electronics, automotive and specialty films. Guangzhou’s new hub will enhance the company’s ability to translate these standards into customized material solutions through closer technological collaboration. The center is designed to help clients respond to the market greater rapidly. to instance, its process simulation production line can replicate the actual operating conditions of extrusion and injection molding, thereby enabling rapid formulation adjustments and material modifications.
