The project is located in the low-carbon industrial park of Wuhai Hainan High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and strives to be fully completed and put into operation in September 2026.
The three sub-projects advanced in stages, with calcium carbide taking the lead in finishing.

the calcium carbide project has entered the final stage of pipeline insulation and maintenance platform welding, which is the first key node with production conditions in the three sub-projects. The BDO project is fully promoting cable laying, electrical instrument installation and commissioning, and key processes are progressing on schedule. As an autonomous energy supply guarantee device, the back pressure unit sprints to the September node synchronously with BDO.
The calcium carbide project was put into production first at the end of May, which is the first observable window to verify the synergy capability of the whole industrial chain, and is of fundamental significance to the subsequent joint production of BDO and PBAT devices.

The core competitive barrier of the project lies in the closed-loop design of vertical integration. The complete path is: coal & rarr; coal washing & rarr; coal coking & rarr; by-product methanol & rarr; methanol to BDO & rarr;PBAT, relying on Guangna Group's existing industrial chain advantages and Wuhai coal resource endowment, realizes the dual control of raw materials and costs.
Each of the four levels has its own strategic value: on the raw material side, the 484000-ton/year calcium carbide project adopts large-scale closed calcium carbide furnace and advanced hydrogen production process from furnace gas to provide basic raw material acetylene for BDO production and lock in costs from the source; At the energy end, the back pressure unit supplies power independently to eliminate the risk of external electricity price fluctuation. Intermediate layer, the first phase of 300000 tons/year BDO project supporting the construction of acetylene, formaldehyde and other production equipment, is both terminal products, also for the second phase of PBAT delivery of core raw materials, terminal layer, the second phase of the 300000 tons/year PBAT biodegradable materials project directly to the high value-added green new materials track.
The essence of this closed-loop design is to internalize external market price risk through full-chain self-sufficiency, and its anti-cyclical value is particularly prominent at a time of increased price volatility in bulk raw materials.
Can low-cost advantage reshape the competitive landscape of BDO and PBAT?
Wu Yueming, general manager of Guangjin New Materials, made it clear that the project "can almost achieve the lowest cost of core products in the whole industry". This judgment is worthy of Chinese BDO and PBAT market practitioners to take seriously.
For the BDO market, the 300000 t/a capacity is medium-sized, but the raw material self-sufficiency system behind it means that the project still has room for profitability in the BDO price downward cycle, while competitors that rely on outsourced raw materials will be the first to come under pressure. The actual impact on traders is: once Guangjin BDO is successfully put into production and forms a stable supply, the supply pattern of BDO in northwest China will appear a new low-cost competition node, and the arrival cost of consumption concentration areas such as East China needs to be re-evaluated.
For the PBAT market, China's domestic PBAT production capacity has expanded rapidly in recent years, and homogenization competition continues to intensify. If the Guangjin model is industrially validated, it will create a cost suppression for other PBAT producers that rely on outsourced BDO and may force the industry to accelerate upstream integration. For downstream biodegradable packaging, agricultural film and other end-buyers, Guangjin can be included in the alternative supplier evaluation framework from the fourth quarter of 2026.
Follow-up Key Observation Nodes: The stable operation of the device after the calcium carbide was put into production at the end of May; whether the BDO and back pressure units can be put into production on schedule in September; and the start schedule of PBAT Phase II, the three jointly determine whether the cost logic of the whole chain can be finally fulfilled.
