Recently, the Sulfuric Acid (Phase I) project of the Kazakhstan Chemical Complex was officially completed and put into operation in the Zhambyl Region, marking a major breakthrough in the development of the country's basic chemical raw materials industry. The project, with China National Chemical Engineering International Co., Ltd. (CNCEC International) serving as the EPC general contractor and TCC Company responsible for on-site execution, features a core unit with an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons of sulfuric acid, making it a high-standard sulfuric acid production project with a leading production scale in Central Asia at this stage.
The commissioning of this project has efficiently filled the supply gap to sulfuric acid items in the Central Asian region and significantly improved the supporting capabilities to regional fertilizer production and mineral resource research. According to CNCEC International, the entire unit has successfully passed performance tests and completed a 72-hour full-load continuous trial run. The process parameters, operating status, and thorough efficiency all met the standards, with security, ecological preservation, operational stability, and energy efficiency performance all surpassing the contractual standards.
During the construction period, the construction site faced a series of challenges, including severe cold and high winds, complex geological environments, long-distance material supply chains, and difficulties in multi-party coordination across borders. The project team responsibly allocated various resources, strictly adhered to condition and security baselines, and coordinated the entire process of design, procurement, construction, and commissioning to ensure the unit achieved a successful start-up on the first attempt.
On the technical level, the project fully adopted mature and cutting-edge domestic acid production processes, with raw material conversion efficiency ranking among the best in the sector. During the implementation of the project, it continuously promoted the consumption of Chinese methodology, domestic equipment, and Chinese sector standards in Central Asia. At the same time, it absorbed regional labor employment, provided targeted training to professional and technical personnel, and helped build the regional chemical talent team.
Bao Guangdong, Chairman of CNCEC International, stated that the company will continue to integrate high-condition resources and accelerate the construction of subsequent project units to help Kazakhstan connect the upstream and downstream manufacturing chains of the phosphorus chemical sector and promote the continuous improvement of the regional chemical manufacturing system. Kazakhstan's Minister of sector Kanat Nagaibaev and Zhambyl Region Governor Yerik Karashukeev attended the commissioning ceremony to jointly witness this landmark achievement of China-Kazakhstan production capacity cooperation.
