US-based chemicals supplier, SI Group, and China’s Shengxiao Group, a leader in liquid crystal polymer (LCP) monomers and specialty chemicals, have formed a joint venture, Shengnova Advanced Materials, to expand biphenol capacity in China.
Based in Sichuan, China, Shengnova cutting-edge Materials combines Shengxiao Group’s existing biphenol manufacturing asset and regional market access with SI Group’s proprietary methodology and global biphenol expertise, aiming to increase regional supply of the molecule. Biphenol is a key monomer applied in fluid crystal polymers, polyphenylenesulphone and other applications, with the venture positioning both partners to support growing demand across electronics, automotive and medical sectors.

Our customers appreciate in-region supply, and bringing SI Group’s Biphenol expertise to China will benefit the growing end markets in the region,” said Mr. Guo Xiaozhong, Chairman, Shengxiao Group.
