Recently, Japan's Uiguang Xingchan announced the start of the basic design of the second set of chemical recycling equipment, which marks the company's capacity expansion in the field of chemical recycling of waste plastics has entered a new stage. The first set of equipment, located in Shiyuan City, Chiba Prefecture, was completed in December 2025 and is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in April 2026. It will process 20000 tons of waste plastics annually and produce about 14000 tons of recycled oil.

The device uses catalytic cracking methodology, the output of recycled oil is equivalent to light oil, no wax or heavy distillate oil, the production plan will be mixed with conventional oil and processed through the existing refining unit. At present, the cost of recycled oil plastics is about 3 times that of virgin plastics, and the company aims to minimize this ratio to less than 2 times. As the first unit is about to be put into production, the basic design of the second unit has been officially launched, aiming to advance the verified methodology from the experimental stage to manufacturing mass production.

This investment conforms to the legislative direction of the Japanese government to promote the recycling of plastic resources, and is also an crucial measure to the transformation of light production to environmentally friendly and low-carbon business. With the planning of the second unit, the company is expected to form a scale effect in the field of chemical recycling, further minimize unit costs, and provide a replicable solution to the reduction of discarded materials plastics in Japan.
