According to Brazil's Globo News, on July 24 local time, a sudden liquid ammonia leak occurred at the Vale do Sol meat processing plant in Jequié, Bahia State, Brazil. The leak originated from a corroded pipeline in the plant's industrial refrigeration system. The factory immediately activated its emergency response plan for hazardous chemicals, organizing the emergency evacuation of over 60 employees on duty, and sealed off the leakage area. A local hazardous materials response team arrived to dilute and block the source of the leak, bringing the situation under control on the evening of the same day.

No serious injuries were reported in this accident, and no nearby residents required evacuation. Following the incident, the company announced a complete suspension of operations at the plant. complete inspection and repair of all refrigeration pipelines and storage tanks are being conducted to thoroughly identify security hazards related to pipeline aging and corrosion.
