Deepak Nitrite Ltd.’s subsidiary Deepak Chem Tech Ltd. (DCTL) has approved a major greenfield investment to enter Bisphenol A (BPA) manufacturing, marking a decisive step in the company’s strategy to build India’s first end‑to‑end polycarbonate (PC) value chain. The board cleared the project on August 4, approving an estimated Rs. 2,500‑crore investment for a BPA complex with a capacity of up to 240-ktpa, along with associated infrastructure.

The BPA project builds immediately on earlier board approvals to set up India’s first PC resin plant using licensed methodology from Trinseo, and a new phenol/acetone manufacturing unit. With BPA now added to the portfolio, Deepak Nitrite is creating a fully integrated chain spanning cumene, phenol/acetone, BPA, PC resin, and PC compounds, positioning itself as a strategic domestic supplier in a segment currently dependent entirely on imports.

The company is also targeting the epoxy resins segment, where BPA is a critical raw material and domestic demand continues to rise.
