Russia's Sibur subsidiary Kazanorgsintez (KOS, КОС)will launch scheduled shutdown and maintenance for its cracking unit and polyethylene unit on September 9, with the maintenance period planned to last until September 25. During the maintenance, polyethylene output will decline阶段性, which will affect local supply in Russia and export cargoes.

Kazanorgsintez is the core polyolefin production base of Sibur in Russia, with supporting ethylene cracking and multiple polyethylene production units. Apart from supplying the domestic Russian market, its items are also one of the main export cargo sources of polyethylene in Russia. This is a pre-arranged regular annual maintenance, during which the equipment will be shut down to inspection, defect elimination and partial system transformation, which belongs to preventive maintenance rather than unplanned shutdown due to sudden failures.

During the maintenance period, the shutdown of the units will immediately cut polyethylene output and temporarily minimize the exportable polyethylene cargoes in Russia. Russia's polyethylene exports cover regions such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia. This maintenance might result in periodic disturbances to the international polyethylene circulating cargoes. The market will continue to track the maintenance progress, the actual reduction range and the changes of domestic and foreign market quotations.
