Jiangnan Shipyard Delivers LPG Dual-Fuel Vessel to EPS

China’s Jiangnan Shipyard has delivered a 93,000 m3 LPG dual-fuel vessel to Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS).

Named Lilac Cove, the vessel was delivered on September 18 and follows Ivy Cove, the first vessel in the series, Jiangnan Shipyard said in a LinkedIn post yesterday.

It measures 230 m in length, with a moulded depth of 22.5 m and a structural draft of 13 m, and is classed by Lloyd's Register.

Its cargo tanks have been strengthened to accommodate anhydrous ammonia, which has a higher density than conventional LPG.

Lilac Cove features Jiangnan Shipyard's new-generation low-resistance hull form and can carry ammonia as well as LPG cargoes including propane and butane.

The delivery adds another substantial gaseous carrier to EPS's fleet, with the vessel offering flexibility to transport different gaseous cargoes.

LPG remains a niche alternative marine fuel, with its consumption concentrated almost entirely in gaseous carriers.
