Celanese raises prices of polyethylene and polyoxymethylene products, effective October 8

Global specialty materials and chemical company Celanese (Celanese Corporation, NYSE ticker: CE) has issued a price adjustment announcement, implementing price increases for its ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW PE) and polyoxymethylene (POM) engineering plastic products. The price adjustment is driven by multiple factors including recent changes in the market environment and global supply chain disruptions.

This price adjustment applies to all cargo orders shipped on or after October 8, 2026. Existing contractual agreements shall be implemented in accordance with their terms. The company also noted that the price increase to some special grade items might be higher than the benchmark price adjustment standard announced this time.

Looking at the regional price adjustment plans:

1. GUR® ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW PE): A price increase of 0.30 USD per kilogram in Asia; no price adjustment was announced to the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region this time.

2. Hostaform®, Celcon®, Amcel®, Kepital® series polyoxymethylene (POM): A price increase of 0.30 USD per kilogram in Asia; a price increase of 0.30 EUR per kilogram in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region; no price adjustment was announced to the Americas region this time.

It is understood that both UHMW PE and POM belong to high-performance engineering plastics. With traits such as wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance, they are broadly applied in downstream fields including auto parts, construction machinery, electronics and electrical appliances, medical equipment and others. Celanese is a core global supplier of this product category, and this price adjustment will have a传导 impact on the cost side of the engineering plastic markets in Asia and Europe.
