Envalior: Mass balance PPS with up to 40 percent lower CO₂-Fu?

Share:

Envalior will be presenting its mass-balance polyphenylene sulfide portfolio "Xytron B-MB" for the first time at Fakuma 2026. According to the company, the product-related CO₂ footprint can be reduced by up to 40% compared to conventional "Xytron" types. In addition, the manufacturer shows other mass-balanced technical plastics as well as already available PBT/PET compounds with recyclable parts.

to "Xytron B-MB", according to Envalior, 100% of the carbon content is assigned to biobased sources via an "ISCC Plus" certified mass stability method. Biomass of the second generation serves as a raw material base. The information describes a stability sheet allocation along the supply chain and no physically proven bio-based proportion in the respective product. The assignment is independently checked as part of the certification.

The mechanical, thermal and chemical characteristics correspond to those of conventional "Xytron" types, according to Envalior. The new PPS materials are designed as immediately applicable substitutes. This should enable component manufacturers to minimize the CO₂ footprint of materials utilized without changing the required material characteristics. In addition, reduce releases of the materials obtained can contribute to reducing the Scope 3 releases of customers.

The additional mass-balanced portfolio includes "Arnitel B-MB" based on thermoplastic copolyesters (TPC), "EcoPaXX B-MB" based on PA410 and "Stanyl B-MB" based on PA46. Then there are the PA6 types "Durethane M-B2" and "Durethane M-XB" as well as "Pocan M-XB" based on PBT. The replacement of conventional types should be possible in many cases with minor adjustments to specifications or tools.

to the already available recyclate-containing materials, Envalior shows the "Pocan T-Series" made of PBT/PET. According to the company, the compounds contain up to 60% recycled material, including 30% mechanically recycled PET. The recyclates are obtained from the EU. The characteristics are largely equivalent to those of comparable "Pocan" types based on new PET.

Envalior also reports a gold medal in EcoVadis's sustainability rating to the second time in a row. With 88 out of 100 points, the company claims to be one of the best 5% of the companies rated in the twelve months before the medal was awarded.
