Germany's WACKER Chemical (WACKER) is accelerating its expansion strategy in the Indian market by putting into operation a new large-scale silicone emulsion production complex at its Panagar (Panagarh) base, a move that will significantly increase the company's production capacity and technical strength and deepen the layout of the fast-growing personal care track.
This new 15000-square-meter facility has been officially put into operation, focusing on the production of GMP-certified silicon-based raw materials specially tailored for cosmetics and personal care products. When put into operation, it will significantly increase WACKER's silicon emulsion production capacity in India and create 60 new jobs. The new complex strictly follows the strict European standards set by the European Cosmetics Association (EFfCI) and demonstrates WACKER's continued pursuit of high-quality, high-purity production.
WACKER Executive Board Member Christian Kirsten (Christian Kirsten) said at the launch ceremony: "Panagar's production facilities are world-class and will produce top-level high-purity products in high demand, especially in the cosmetics and personal care industries. Core competitiveness."
India's thriving personal care industry has always been at the heart of WACKER's India strategy. Its joint venture, Wacker Metroark Chemicals, has been supplying silicon-based raw materials to local Indian manufacturers and global consumer goods giants for many years. WACKER executive Tom Koini (Tom Koini) pointed out: "the market demand for our silicon products continues to be strong, the Indian market has a bright future growth space. Through the expansion of production capacity in Panagar, we are fully prepared to undertake demand growth and help customer business development."
WACKER's deep cultivation of the Indian market began in 1999, the initial layout of the Amtala (Amtala) base near Kolkata. In 2022, the company opened a large-scale production base covering an area of 165000 square meters in Panagar, focusing on the production of silicone rubber and compounds, covering electrical mobility, medical technology, power supply and other fields.
With the completion of this expansion, the Panagal base has emerged as a core production hub for silicon emulsions, not only complementing the business, but also gradually easing the pressure on the production capacity of the old base in Amtala. Wacker executive Sascha Büchel (Sascha Büchel) stressed: "The smooth landing of the Panagar expansion is the key to the future success of Wacker's India business. The main site in Amtala has played an important role, but the current capacity is close to its limit, and Panagar provides us with ample space, sound infrastructure and flexible operating conditions to support the continued growth of our business in India."
