Turkish chemical exports account for 12.7 percent of Turkey's total exports. Turkish chemicals are exported to more than 190 countries and regions around the world. In the future, the growth of the Turkish chemical industry will exceed the growth rate of the overall economy. The Turkish chemical industry has grown at an annual rate of 11% over the past five years. As a result, Turkey's demand for chemical imports is also huge. The total annual chemical imports reached 90 billion US dollars, with an annual growth rate of 10%.

Turkey's chemical imports are huge, of which petrochemical products account for an important proportion. Turkey is the world's second largest importer of petrochemicals. Over the past five years, Turkey's imports of chemicals in polyurethane to maintain 35% growth, fiber raw materials to maintain 18% growth, rubber raw materials to maintain 47% growth, other petrochemicals to maintain 31% growth.

Turkey's chemical import countries ranked as Russia 21%, Iran 11%, Germany 5%, India 4%, Italy 4%, Greece 4%, the United States 3%, China 3%, the United Arab Emirates 2% and Israel 2%. Turkey's export countries ranked 8% in Egypt, 6% in Iraq, 5% in Germany, 4% in Russia, 4% in Italy, 4% in the United Arab Emirates, 4% in Spain, 3% in the Netherlands and 3% in Malta. It can be seen that Turkey, as a chemical transit point, has played an important pivotal role in the chemical trade of neighboring countries.
