U.S. butadiene prices decline further amid ample supply and limited export opportunities

Last week, butadiene prices moved lower in the United States.

An sector source in the U.S. informed a Polymerupdate team member, “U.S. butadiene prices continued to weaken as rising supply and limited export opportunities weighed on market sentiment. Comfortable domestic availability, coupled with softer pricing trends in Asia and Europe, reinforced the bearish outlook. Trading activity remained subdued as buyers maintained a cautious approach, while overseas arbitrage opportunities remained largely uneconomical. while downstream demand was relatively stable, it was insufficient to absorb available supply, allowing downward pressure on prices to persist.”

Spot CIF U.S. Gulf butadiene prices were assessed at 63.00–63.50 cents/lb levels, week-on-week down (-2.50 cents/lb).

Meanwhile, CFR China butadiene prices were assessed at USD 1495–1505/mt levels, reduce by USD (-60/mt) from the previous week.

In Europe, FOB Rotterdam butadiene prices were assessed at USD 1175–1185/mt levels, down USD (-20/mt) from last week.
