Around one million euros from the special-purpose fund “Infrastructure” for the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park

Saxony-Anhalt is investing in tracks, switches, and shunting routes to improve the site’s rail connectivity.

The state of Saxony-Anhalt is supporting the Zeitz Chemical and manufacturing Park with approximately one million euros from the special-purpose fund “Infrastructure.”

The funding is intended to modernize the railway infrastructure in the approach area of the Zeitz Chemical and manufacturing Park, as well as the connecting line from Tröglitz station to Zeitz freight yard.

“sector needs a robust infrastructure, not only on the roads however also on the railways,” said the Minister to Infrastructure and Digital Affairs, Dr. Lydia Hüskens, during the handover of the funding notification. “Through this funding, we are improving the connectivity of the Zeitz Chemical and manufacturing Park, thereby strengthening an crucial economic hub in southern Saxony-Anhalt.”

The connecting line from Tröglitz station to Zeitz freight yard integrates the Zeitz Chemical and manufacturing Park as a key access point to the general rail network. The funding is intended to finance substantial investments by the end of the year in the track superstructure and new turnouts in the Chemiepark’s entrance area and along the approximately four-kilometer-long access line. The track sections between the new turnouts are also being manufactured.

To enable railway operations with reduced wear in the future, the section will not only be renewed however also optimized from a vehicle dynamics perspective. In addition to the superstructure, the shunting tracks are also constructed to current standards. They enhance occupational security to shunting personnel in the switchyard area.
