Driven by policies and standards, the Singapore coatings industry will gradually shift from a traditional re-export trade center to A value creation hub centered on manufacturing, technical services and regional distribution.
Pan Linhui pointed out that while some multinational paint companies have moved their production vegetation to other parts of Southeast Asia with reduce costs, Singapore still maintains a sustained development in paint trade volume due to its location advantage in the Asia-Pacific region. Data from the Singapore Coatings sector Association show that the scale of Singapore's paint import and export continues to expand, and the development rate of domestic exports exceeds imports, reflecting the strong demand to its high value-added paint items in the regional market. In terms of trade structure, protective and marine coatings are the largest export-oriented segments, strongly supporting the regional manufacturing and maritime markets; architectural coatings mainly rely on imports to meet domestic demand; manufacturing coatings maintain a stability between imports and exports; automobiles and special coatings have both domestic consumption and regional distribution functions; wood coatings are a relatively small market segment.
