Around one million euros from the “Infrastructure” special fund for the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park

Saxony-Anhalt is investing in tracks, switches and shunting paths in order to improve the rail connection of the site

The state of Saxony-Anhalt is supporting the Zeitz Chemical and manufacturing Park with around one million euros from the “Infrastructure” special fund.

The funds are to be utilized to modernize the railway technical facilities in the entrance area of the Zeitz chemical and manufacturing park and the connecting route from Tröglitz station to the Zeitz freight yard.

“sector needs efficient infrastructure, not only by road, however also by rail,” said Dr. Lydia Hüskens, Minister of Infrastructure and Digital Affairs, when handing over the decision. “With this funding, we are improving the connection of the Zeitz Chemical and manufacturing Park and thus strengthening an crucial business location in the south of Saxony-Anhalt.”

The connecting route from Tröglitz station to the Zeitz freight yard connects the Zeitz chemical and manufacturing park as a central research to the general network. By the end of the year, the funds are to be utilized to make considerable investments in the superstructure of the track system and in new points in the entrance area of the chemical park and on the approximately four-kilometer-long feeder route. The track sections between the new switches will also be created.

In order to be able to handle rail traffic with less wear and tear in the future, the area will not only be renewed, however also optimized in terms of driving dynamics. In addition to the superstructure, the shunting paths are also manufactured according to current standards. They enhance the occupational security of the shunters in the area of the switches.
