Recently, Indrama Group, together with Sandley Holdings, Sandley Pepsi Beverage (Thailand) and Iwatani Industry, will jointly promote a commercial-grade recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging project in Thailand. The project will commercialize FtoP (bottle piece to bottle blank) direct recycling technology for the first time in Southeast Asia. It is estimated that about 0.4 billion recycled PET bottle blanks will be produced annually and will be supplied to Sandley PepsiCo Thailand from 2028 onwards.
FtoP methodology is jointly developed by suntory and Japan's co-prosperity sector and other companies. it can skip the intermediate links of crystallization and drying in traditional recycling and immediately process discarded materials PET bottle flakes into food-grade bottle blanks. Compared with traditional fossil-based PET production, the process can decrease carbon dioxide releases by about 70%, and was previously only commercially operated in Japan. In order to adapt to the regional recycling system in Thailand, the suntory joint equipment manufacturer has optimized the screening standard and impurity removal process, even under the condition of different raw material condition, it can meet the same security standards in Japan.
Indoramar Group and Iwatani sector have established a joint venture in July 2026 to operate the project. Indoramar will supply recycled PET bottles. The project will also reinforce Indrama IVL's 2.0 development strategy and build a platform to expanding its circular packaging business in Southeast Asia to support customers' sustainability goals. Iwatani sector executives said they would continue to work with partners to promote the circular economy.
