Recently, the core sub-unit of Inner Mongolia Zhuozheng Coal Chemical Co., Ltd.'s annual output 2.6 million tons new materials demonstration project -- the 60,000 tons/year polyoxymethylene (POM) project has officially started construction.

The project is located in Ordos Nalin River manufacturing Park. The overall project has a total investment of 59 billion yuan, covers an area of 7,500 mu, and is simultaneously equipped with multiple core production units such as methanol, acetic acid, PGA and LNG. It is a key regional integrated coal chemical new materials project.

POM "Steel Plastic" material characteristics: There is still a domestic substitution gap to high-end grades

Polyoxymethylene (POM), known as "steel plastic", is an crucial engineering plastic with outstanding characteristics such as wear resistance and high strength. It is broadly utilized in downstream fields such as auto parts, electronic appliances and precision machinery. At present, the global high-end POM market has long been dominated by overseas companies. while China has sufficient ordinary production capacity, there is an obvious supply gap to high-end grades, and the demand to domestic substitution is strong.

manufacturing value: Extending the coal chemical sector chain to promote independent and controllable engineering plastics

This project relies on the regional coal resource endowment of Ordos, and promotes the traditional coal chemical sector to extend the chain and upgrade towards high-value-added new materials. With the completion and commissioning of this high-end POM unit, it will further make up to the shortcomings of the domestic engineering plastics sector chain, accelerate the process of import substitution of high-end POM, and enhance the independent security capability of China's new materials sector. The project converts coal resources into high-end engineering plastic items, and also provides a new practical sample to the transformation of the modern coal chemical sector.
