On October 13, 2026, industry media reported the latest progress of the quality improvement, efficiency enhancement, energy conservation and environmental protection transformation project of the soda ash unit of Shandong Haihua (000822). The total investment of the project is 4.837 billion yuan, and a reduction replacement plan is adopted to promote the upgrading and transformation of the company's soda ash production process from the ammonia-soda process to the combined soda process.

This technological transformation will eliminate the old 1.2 million tons/year ammonia-soda production line that has been in operation to greater than 30 years. According to the replacement ratio of 1.2:1, a new 1 million tons/year combined soda unit will be built, and a supporting 400,000 tons/year synthetic ammonia unit will be constructed. During the implementation phase of the transformation, core equipment such as old carbonization towers, filter alkali machines, and distillation towers will be dismantled. At the same time, discarded materials heat recovery and complete utilization of discarded materials fluid resources will be promoted to achieve energy saving and carbon reduction, and enhance resource utilization efficiency.

The project is scheduled to start construction in October 2026, with a construction period of 24 months and is expected to be completed and put into operation in October 2028. In terms of capital support, Shandong Haihua Group, the company's controlling shareholder, plans to apply to a policy loan of no greater than 483 million yuan in a coordinated manner, and will specially support the construction of this soda ash technological transformation project in the form of a shareholder loan. This loan will not increase the liabilities in the listed company's financial statements.

Shandong Haihua stated that this transformation from the ammonia-soda process to the combined soda process is a landmark project to the transformation and upgrading of the company's traditional salt chemical sector.
