octene, chemical formula C8H16, is a colorless transparent liquid with a molecular weight of 112.21. It is an olefin compound with a double bond structure, so it has good chemical activity. Octene is an important raw material for the manufacture of advanced lubricants, synthetic detergents, surfactants, plastics and rubber. In the petrochemical industry, octene is commonly used to produce polyolefins, such as polyethylene and polypropylene, which are widely used in packaging materials, wire and cable, pipes and automotive parts. In addition, octene can also be used in the synthesis of organic compounds such as alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, and as solvents and perfume ingredients. As an important chemical raw material, octene is widely used in many industrial fields.
(1) Preparation of synthetic rubber: Octene is an important synthetic rubber raw material. High-performance synthetic rubber can be prepared by polymerization reaction, which is used in the production of rubber products such as tires, conveyor belts, rubber hoses, etc. to meet the needs of the automotive industry and other industrial fields.
(2) Synthetic resins and plastics: Octene can be used to produce resins and plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene. These materials have excellent physical properties and chemical stability and are widely used in packaging materials, building materials, wires and cables and other fields.
(3) Preparation of coatings and surfactants: As a raw material, octene can be used to synthesize coatings and surfactants to provide high-quality raw materials for the coating industry and the daily chemical industry. Coatings are used in the coating of buildings, automobiles and other surfaces, while surfactants are used in cleaning agents, detergents and other products to improve the cleaning effect and performance of the products.
(4) As a solvent and extractant: octene has a certain solubility and can be used as a solvent and extractant, playing an important role in chemical analysis and organic synthesis.
(5) Other fine chemicals: Octene can also be used to prepare fine chemicals such as petroleum additives, lubricants, food additives and spices, providing diversified products for the petroleum, food and daily chemical industries.
