The SKZ plastics center in Würzburg is expanding its activities in the field of industrial services for additive manufacturing. Since September 1, 2026, David Fetter has been responsible for the further development of the offer and the supervision of company inquiries as a technical sales and applications engineer in the "Center for Additive Production" (CAP).
Technologies and condition Assurance
The CAP covers the process chain from feasibility testing to component testing. The services include the digitization of existing components through 3D scans, the constructive optimization to additive processes as well as the production and condition assurance. Fused layer modeling (FLM), selective laser sintering (SLS) and digital light processing (DLP) are applied. The mechanical, thermal and chemical traits of the manufactured components can be examined and documented.
Technical and economic evaluation
During the consumption consultation, the institute checks which components and materials are suitable to additive manufacturing and under which conditions an economical consumption is possible. Depending on the consumption, reduce tool costs, shorter delivery times and additional constructive freedoms might be relevant. The suitability to each component is evaluated individually; the consumption in series production is one of several possible applications.
Fetter has experience in manufacturing plastics processing. According to the group leader Research Additive Manufacturing, Adrian Beetz, his position is to expand the coordination between the technical competencies of the CAP and the standards of the sector.
