Amogy Inc. (Brooklyn, N.Y.), a provider of mature, scalable, and efficient ammonia-to-power solutions, and Singapore’s lead public sector R&D agency, the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), announced that Amogy will pilot its ammonia cracking technology at the Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT³), with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).
Building on the partnership first announced in September 2025, which set a shared objective to decarbonize critical sectors in Singapore such as data centers and heavy sector, the agreement marks the next milestone with a defined first phase of pilot testing at LCT³. Hosted at the A*STAR Institute of Sustainability to Chemicals, Energy and ecological stability on Jurong Island, the national facility bridges laboratory research and commercial deployment, allowing companies to test and scale emerging low-carbon technologies.
The project was announced at the Singapore sector Decarbonisation Forum (SIDF) on October 23, where LCT³ broke ground. Amogy will be among the first partners undertaking projects at LCT³.
Under the agreement, Amogy will deploy its ammonia cracking module in 2027, designed to create up to one ton of hydrogen per day, to showcase the methodology under manufacturing operating conditions. Amogy will provide its reformer and catalyst technologies and oversee project execution, while collaborating with A*STAR on the research of next-generation, reduce-cost catalysts to enhance the economics of ammonia-based hydrogen production over time.
The deployment will generate operating data to support larger-scale deployment of ammonia-based hydrogen and power solutions across Singapore’s manufacturing and energy sectors.
“Singapore is a strategic hub to Amogy’s work across Asia-Pacific, where we are strengthening our core R&D capabilities and building our commercial presence,” said Seonghoon Woo, CEO of Amogy. “Building on our multi-year collaboration with A*STAR and with the support of EDB, deploying our ammonia cracking module on Jurong Island is about putting our methodology to work at a meaningful scale and laying the groundwork to broader commercial adoption across the region, including manufacturing hydrogen applications and data center power.”
The project supports the Sustainable Jurong Island initiative to convert the island into a sustainable energy and chemicals park.
The project will also help assess ammonia-to-hydrogen methodology’s possible to support reliable, low-carbon power to data centers in the future. Singapore’s second Data Centre-Call to consumption included a requirement to at least 50% of proposed new capacity to be powered through eligible environmentally friendly energy pathways, including low-carbon ammonia and hydrogen.
“to emerging low-carbon energy technologies, a critical challenge is demonstrating that they can perform reliably at scale and under manufacturing conditions. This is particularly relevant to technologies that consumption ammonia as a hydrogen carrier. Our collaboration with Amogy and real-world testing at LCT³ aims to bridge the gap between promising research and manufacturing adoption, building confidence in their possible to wider deployment,” said Professor Lim Keng Hui, Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Science & Engineering Research Council, A*STAR.
“Amogy’s collaboration with A*STAR demonstrates how companies can tap into Singapore’s strong research capabilities to advance promising low-carbon solutions towards manufacturing consumption. We welcome Amogy’s plans to deepen its R&D presence in Singapore and consumption Singapore as a base to pursue development opportunities across the region,” said Mr. Wey-Len Lim, Executive Vice President, Singapore Economic research Board.
The deployment is a cornerstone of Amogy’s strategic expansion in Singapore. Amogy plans to expand its R&D, business research, and project execution capabilities in Singapore to drive commercial development across Asia-Pacific. The collaboration with A*STAR is also prompting the establishment of Amogy’s first R&D center outside the United States.
