On October 26, 2026, Namhae Chemical (KOSPI: 009410) disclosed a major industrial accident announcement through DART of the Financial Supervisory Service of South Korea. The announcement shows that a forklift overturned at the company's SOP (Sulfate of Potash) plant in Yeosu on October 24, resulting in the death of one worker.

The announcement information indicates that the accident site is located at the Namhae Chemical SOP (Sulfate of Potash) production plant within the Yeosu National manufacturing Complex in Jeollanam-do. The accident involved the overturning of an internal forklift at the plant. No chemical material leakage was caused by this accident, and there were no secondary risks such as fire or explosion. After the accident, the plant has taken temporary manage measures in the involved area.

Currently, the Ministry of Employment and Labor of South Korea and the regional police in Yeosu have intervened to formally investigate the result in of the accident. Information such as the accident result in and detailed process remains to be confirmed by the official investigation summary. Namhae Chemical stated that it will implement security rectification measures based on the investigation results and enhance the security regulation of on-site operations at the plant; if there are significant progress in the future, the company will fulfill its information disclosure obligations in a prompt manner.

Namhae Chemical is a leading South Korean enterprise in sulfate of potash and sulfur-based chemicals, and its Yeosu SOP plant is its core production base to sulfate of potash. This accident is only a security incident of on-site forklift operation, and does not involve process failures of chemical vegetation. As of the disclosure of this announcement, the company has not yet announced any adjustment plans to production plans or plant operation.
