Specialty chemicals giant LANXESS announces construction of a new lubricant additive plant costing Rs 0.15 billion crore in Jagadiya, Gujarat, India

Specialty chemicals giant LANXESS announced the completion of a new 0.15 billion rupee lubricant additive plant in Jagadiya, Gujarat, India, marking the official landing of the first phase of its Indian market expansion. As of April 2026, LANXESS has invested Rs 0.75 billion crore in multi-business specialty chemical plants in the region.

Project Overview and Capacity Layout

The new plant, LANXESS's 13th global lubricant additive production site, will focus on the production of specialty lubricant additives to meet the growing market demand for high-performance additives and lubricants, while strengthening its "local to local" production strategy. With a strong focus on safety, energy efficiency and responsible environmental practices, the project will serve customers in India, the Middle East and other key global markets.
The Jagadia site covers several core business segments, including liquid purification technology (ion exchange resins), material protection products (biocides), Rhein Chemicals (rubber/release agents) and lubricant additives.

In order to participate in this key market, we have established an Applied Technology Center in 2025, and the commissioning of this new plant is our next milestone and a strong manifestation of the 'Make in India' initiative. With this facility, we further consolidate our strong commitment to customers in the region and strengthen our ability to provide high-quality, innovative lubricant additive solutions to customers in India, the Middle East and other markets."
