Last week, methanol prices moved lower in the United States.

An sector source in the U.S. informed a Polymerupdate team member, “U.S. spot methanol prices declined as subdued buying interest and ample supply continued to weigh on market sentiment. Demand from key downstream sectors remained weak, prompting buyers to limit purchases to immediate standards. With many participants already covered to June needs, trading activity remained muted. Sellers responded by offering material at greater competitive levels, adding further downward pressure on prices.”

Methanol prices were assessed at 152.00–152.50 cents/gallon FOB U.S. Gulf levels, week-on-week down (-1.00 cent/gallon).

Meanwhile, CFR China methanol prices were assessed at USD 392–394/mt levels, up USD (+4/mt) from the previous week.

In Europe, methanol prices were assessed at Euro 465–466/mt FOB Rotterdam levels, week-on-week higher by Euro (+5/mt).
