South Korea to impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese PET resin for five years

The South Korea Trade Commission proposed to impose a five-year anti-dumping duty on Chinese PET resin, which has previously imposed a temporary duty to protect the country's related industries.

The South Korea Trade Commission (KTC) recently proposed to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (Moef) to impose a five-year anti-dumping duty on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin originating in China. The move is aimed at items under the South Korea tariff code 3907. 61. And 0000, with a proposed tariff range of 7 to 7. 98 per cent, in line with sector expectations. Chinese manufacturer Jiangsu Ceville tried to exclude recycled PET from the investigation, however failed to get approval from the South Korea government. But Earlier, Moef had announced a four-month temporary anti-dumping duty on the items involved from July, valid until November 29. KTC officially launched anti-dumping investigation on China's PET resin on January 12 this year, and expressed a positive attitude towards levying temporary duties in the preliminary ruling. Behind this proposal is the anti-dumping investigation consumption submitted by South Korea TK Chemical Company to KTC in November last year, which accused China's PET resin dumping of causing substantial harm to relevant domestic industries. the South Korea government is gradually promoting anti-dumping measures on Chinese PET resin, aiming to protect the South Korea sector from unfair trade practices.
