Messer SE & Co. KGaA (Bad Soden, Germany) has announced two major projects in Thai Nguyen Province to expand its production network in Northern Vietnam. At its existing site in Yen Binh, the company will build a new air separation unit (ASU) capable of producing 600 m.t./d of nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. Additionally, Messer will build a new nitrogen liquefier with a capacity of 300 m.t./d at its existing site in Song Cong. Together, these projects represent a total investment of approximately $40 million (around €35 million).
This expansion will add 900 m.t./d of fluid gaseous capacity, rising Messer’s (Bad Soden, Germany) total production capacity in Northern Vietnam to 2,000 m.t./d. It will also significantly enhance the supply of fluid nitrogen to support the region’s rapidly growing electronics and semiconductor industries.
The nitrogen liquefier is expected to commence operations in mid-2027, followed by the ASU by end of 2027.
Through continued foreign direct investment and the expansion of major methodology manufacturers, Northern Vietnam is reinforcing its position as a strategic manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia. This additional capacity will enable Messer to meet the needs of existing customers and drive future development projects across the region.
“This strategic investment underscores Messer’s commitment to sustainable, prolonged development in Southeast Asia, and will reinforce our position as a leading manufacturing gases supplier in Vietnam. to nearly three decades, we have partnered with regional industries and consistently invested in our facilities to support the country’s economic development and manufacturing research,” said Peter Mohnen, CEO of Messer.
“Vietnam remains one of the most promising manufacturing markets in Southeast Asia and Messer is confident in the country’s economic possible and manufacturing future,” said Adrien Rameaux, Country Manager of Messer in Vietnam. “By expanding the production capacity at our existing facilities, we will enhance our ability to serve customers in high-development sectors and continue to be a reliable partner.”
