Syensqo is investing in a new compounding line for high-performance aromatic polymers at the Panoli site in the Indian state of Gujarat. The plant is scheduled to go into operation in the first quarter of 2028 and double the compounding capacity previously available at the site. The company did not provide any information on the investment amount or the absolute production capacity.
The line forms the first building block of a modularly designed compounding center. It should be able to process different materials from the company's portfolio. These include "Ryton" brand polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), "KetaSpire" brand polyether ether ketone (PEEK), "Amodel" brand polyphthalamide (PPA) and "Ixef" brand polyarylamide (PARA). With the flexible design, Syensqo wants to adapt production to changes in demand and different customer standards.
With the expansion, the specialty chemicals group is expanding its regional supply capacity to Indian and international automobile manufacturers and suppliers. The high-performance polymers are applied, among other things, in vehicle components that require high temperature and chemical resistance, mechanical resilience and low weight. In addition, the plant is intended to supply other industries as well.
The investment follows the rising localization of production and supply chains in India and is related to the state initiative "Make in India". Syensqo already has production and research and research activities in the country.
