Federal Chemical Employers' Association (BAVC) and the representation of the interests of specialists and executives in chemistry and pharmaceuticals (VAA) have agreed to adjust the collectively agreed minimum annual remuneration for academically educated scientific and technical employees, which reflects the continuing challenging economic situation of the chemical industry.

Against the background of persistently high burdens to many companies and a continued weak economic ecological stability, the collectively agreed minimum annual remuneration to the year 2026 will increase after having remained unchanged in the previous year. The collectively agreed minimum annual remuneration in the second year of employment is therefore

to qualified employees and employees with a master's degree 74,950 euros, to employees with a doctorate 87,125 euros.

A joint solution in challenging times

“With the agreed adjustment, we take into account the persistently difficult economic situation of many companies and at the same time take into account the interests of the employees. The situation in the German chemical and medical sector remains tense. That is why it was crucial to find a viable solution together that meets the current challenges in the sector, "emphasized BAVC General Manager Mathias Schöttke. In addition, the collective bargaining parties have agreed, against the background of the ongoing transformations, to develop a concept to a joint event to specialists and managers on current challenges in the world of work and to implement them. With this, VAA and BAVC want to continue and deepen the socio-political dialogue beyond the current agreement.

“With the agreement, the parties to the collective bargaining agreement are setting an example to reliability in the crisis. In order to secure investments, employment and added value in Germany, a responsible collective bargaining policy is needed."
