Upstream Raw Materials Weakened, and Polyamide Filament Prices Remained Stagnant Last Week

Share:

Last week (October 18-23), domestic market prices for polyamide filament remained stable. Mainstream production prices for polyamide POY and DTY in Jiangsu, as well as polyamide FDY in Fujian, saw no fluctuations throughout the period. The market lacked upward momentum, with weak cost-side support and lackluster end-user demand, resulting in generally sluggish trading activity.

Upstream Raw Materials: Weak Cost Support and Soft Price Trends

The upstream caprolactam market is exhibiting a weak, stable direction, while the market to polyamide (PA6) chips is trending downward with some evaporative environment; consequently, cost-side support to polyamide filament continues to wane. In the absence of any significant upward pressure on raw material costs, there is little impetus to polyamide filament prices to rise. Furthermore, the decline in raw material costs discourages manufacturers from attempting to raise prices. Given this soft raw material ecological stability, polyamide filament producers are primarily focused on maintaining stable prices, with little incentive to make adjustments.

Price Performance of Various Types of polyamide Filament

Based on monitoring data, prices to various specifications of polyamide filament remained stable from October 18 to 23:

1. Polyamide POY (Jiangsu, 86D/24F, semi-dull, premium grade): The production price held steady at 16,075 RMB/ton, with no change over the week.

2. Polyamide DTY (Jiangsu, 70D/24F, semi-dull, premium grade): The production price remained at 18,020 RMB/ton, showing no fluctuation.

3. Polyamide FDY (Fujian, 40D/12F, semi-dull, premium grade): The production price stayed stable at 18,350 RMB/ton, with the market remaining flat.

On the supply side, the availability of polyamide filament in the market is gradually growing, with factory operating rates remaining stable. As market supply grows without a corresponding rise in demand, the possible to further price increases is constrained.

Downstream End-consumption: Lack of Positive Demand Drivers and Insufficient Order development

The downstream textile sector currently lacks significant positive catalysts. Weaving companies are seeing only limited development in new orders, and there is little enthusiasm to procurement; purchasing remains largely confined to small, on-demand replenishment, with a weak appetite to bulk acquisitions. With demand remaining persistently sluggish and no new orders emerging, the market lacks the core driving force needed to push prices higher.

Market outlook

Overall, the current market to polyamide filament lacks positive catalysts; cost-side support is weak, supply is gradually growing, and end-user demand shows little sign of significant improvement. In the short term, polyamide filament prices are likely to remain stable, with no clear direction toward a sustained rise or fall. Moving forward, market participants should closely monitor price fluctuations in raw materials—specifically caprolactam and PA6 chips—as well as shifts in downstream weaving orders.
