China's Jiangxi Jiujiang Petrochemical PTA Integration Project Ushers in Key Nodes to Make up for the Short Board of Polyester Raw Materials in Central China

1、 Latest construction progress of two major facilities

On October 25, in the Petrochemical Industrial Park of Jiujiang Economic Development Zone, Jiangxi Province, China, the basic design of Jiujiang Petrochemical 3 million tons/year PTA project was approved by Sinopec Group, and the project officially entered the countdown to construction. The unit is the core project of Jiujiang Petrochemical Company from a fuel refinery to an integrated refining and chemical plant. It is equipped with facilities such as tank farm, circulating water and sewage pretreatment. It can be linked with the upstream 1.5 million tons/year aromatic hydrocarbon transformation and the downstream 3.76 million tons/year PET production capacity to build a complete chain of "oil refining-aromatic hydrocarbon-PTA-PET-terminal product", realize the nearby conversion of raw materials and build an aromatic hydrocarbon industry base in central China, the local is speeding up equipment procurement and site preparation, the target year to start construction.

The construction of the supporting 1.5 million-ton/year aromatic hydrocarbon renovation project has been accelerated, with the overall progress of the project being 91.53, and the overall mechanical completion is planned to be completed by the end of December. On September 20, the hydrocracking product refining unit was completed mechanically. On October 10, the six supporting units constructed by Jiujiang Inspection and Safety Company were successfully completed. Now they have entered the cross-operation stage of finishing and commissioning preparation, laying the foundation for the subsequent stable output of PX.

2、 Interpretation of Supply Chain Pattern and Trade Opportunities

in the long run, China's PTA production capacity is concentrated in the coastal areas of Zhejiang and Jiangsu in East China, and the procurement of polyester factories in central China generally bears higher logistics costs and has a long arrival cycle. After the landing of this integrated production line in Jiujiang, PX will be converted into PTA locally and supplied directly to the chemical fiber cluster in central China. It will divert the original coastal supply orders, provide local stable supply for traders in central China, and reduce the risk of freight and supply chain fluctuation.

The project adopts the production rhythm of "aromatics first, PTA follow-up". The commissioning progress of aromatics plant and PX external quantity directly determine the subsequent PTA raw material guarantee capacity. Overseas traders can focus on tracking the commissioning node. This variable will affect the PTA long-term association negotiation and long-term disk expectation. If the production of aromatic hydrocarbons is delayed, the polyester factory in central China will still rely on the supply of goods in eastern China.

The project belongs to Jiangxi "1269" industrial chain key projects, relying on local policy support, landing certainty is strong, is a typical "oil reduction and increase" transformation sample, to help Jiujiang sprint industrial 200 billion development goals, will also reshape the circulation of polyester raw materials in central China.
