Last week, benzene prices journeyed southward in the United States.

An sector source in the U.S. told a Polymerupdate team member, “U.S. benzene prices declined sharply, pressured by weaker energy markets, reduce styrene monomer values, and softer pricing trends in Asia. Trading activity remained limited as buyers adopted a cautious approach amid weak demand conditions. Sluggish domestic consumption further weighed on market sentiment, maintaining downward pressure on benzene prices throughout the week.”

Benzene prices were assessed at 402.00–402.10 cents/gallon FOB US Gulf levels, a steep fall of (-64.00 cents/gallon) from the previous week.

Downstream SM prices were assessed at 58.90–59.00 cents/lb FOB US Gulf levels, a week-on-week drop of (-4.30 cents/lb).

Meanwhile, in Asia, benzene prices were assessed at USD 1000-1010/mt FOB Korea levels, a sharp drop of USD (-45/mt) from the previous week.
