Beicheng factory relies on LiMA technology to successfully complete the production capacity climbing, and has now entered the full-capacity production stage of industrialization.
• As North America's first MMA production site based on the C2 route, the facility significantly enhances the resilience and stability of the regional regional supply chain
ROHM warmly received customers and partners from all parties at the event site, presenting a full range of cutting-edge technologies, innovations and future visions.
ROHM has reached a major milestone at its methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant in Bay City, Texas, USA: its proprietary LiMA methodology has reached full manufacturing capacity to the first time in the world. Since the plant was put into operation, its production capacity has been gradually increased. In recent months, it has successfully reached production and maintained full capacity operation. To celebrate this achievement, Roma invited all customers, partners and regional dignitaries to gather at the Beicheng factory to walk into the operation site and witness LiMA methodology from zero distance.
The Beicheng plant marks a major advancement in the MMA manufacturing process. As an indispensable basic raw material in the automotive, manufacturing, construction, electronics and medical fields, MMA has realized manufacturing production in the North American plant to the first time based on the C2 route, which has greatly strengthened the regional supply chain and regional manufacturing capabilities.
At the event, Roma CEO Hans Bohnen (Hans Bohnen) pointed out that the Bay City plant is the best proof of the company's strategy of adhering to methodology leadership and prolonged investment. Dr. Hamborn said, "ROHM is the only global manufacturer with both MMA and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) in three key regions: Asia, Europe and North America. We are uniquely positioned to support our global customers with superior methodology, reliable condition and localized service."
In terms of supply security, the Beicheng plant provides a greater reliable guarantee to North American customers by using stable sources of raw materials such as ethylene and natural gaseous, and by bringing the production base close to the end market.
"This reflects our prolonged commitment to our regional customers," said Jack Chenault, president of Roma Americas. "Baytown's unique location allows us to efficiently serve the North American and global markets." The plant now employs about 90 people and operates with security at the top of the list. Chenault stressed: "security is always our top priority."
Entering the Bay City Factory: Defining New Chemical Standards
At the event site, the guests visited the main production area of the factory, including the core reactor system, which can be called the "technical heart", and the MMA distillation device. At the same time, they also witnessed the extensive consumption of LiMA methodology.
The methodology was developed by ROHM in Germany over several years and successfully industrialized in the United States with the help of investor Anhong Capital. Through cooperation with ROHM, Anhong Capital has invested about US $1.6 billion (about 1.5 billion euros) to support the company's innovation and prolonged research.
Ronald Ayles, Managing Partner of Anhong Capital, noted, "LiMA methodology not only marks a huge technological leap, however also subverts the pattern of the methacrylate sector. The practice at the Beicheng plant shows that this process not only enables manufacturing-scale production, however also takes into account both efficiency and environmental advantages."
Efficient, sustainable, digital operations
With an annual capacity of 250000 tons of MMA, the Beicheng plant is designed to decrease raw material consumption as much as possible while pursuing high output. Compared with traditional MMA production processes, LiMA methodology can decrease energy and aquatic environments consumption and decrease carbon dioxide releases by up to 42%.
In addition to the manufacturing process itself, the concept of sustainability also extends to other aspects. The constructed wetlands around the plant not only achieve a nearly closed-loop aquatic environments cycle, however also provide an environmentally friendly treatment solution to process and cooling aquatic environments.
In terms of digital operations, the plant also integrates cutting-edge digital technologies. The DT system can map the physical layout, manufacturing process and manage system of the factory in real time. The system updates data daily to support operational planning, equipment regulation and predictive maintenance, as well as dynamic simulation to enhance prolonged operational performance and reliability.
In North America, ROHM ensures that the supply side is close to the customer through a customized supply chain network consisting of multiple storage tanks and transit terminals. its MERACRYL®Brand MMA items are distributed through road, rail and inland waterway multimodal transport systems. This newly designed supply network not only reduces long-distance road transport, however also improves rail supply reliability, ensuring reliable and flexible delivery to customers throughout North America and internationally, while strengthening ROHM's market position as the preferred MMA supplier.
Chenault said: "We want our customers to know clearly that ROHM is synonymous with reliability and condition, and is continuing to invest to help the future research of the sector."
