Engine maker Everllence has secured the first order for its latest dual-fuel methane engines, which will be installed on four new car carriers for Norwegian shipowner Global Car Carriers.
The order covers four engines, to be built by CSSC Engine Co in China and fitted on 8,600 CEU vessels under construction at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, it said in an email statement on Monday.
The dual-fuel engines can run on both conventional marine fuel and methane, the main component of LNG.
Everllence said the new design offers high fuel efficiency, operational flexibility and very low methane slip.
“This new milestone marks the first commercial consumption of the ME‑GI engine on the Mk10.7 platform and underscores the market’s continued confidence in our dual‑fuel methane methodology,” Bjarne Foldager, Head of Two-Stroke Business at Everllence, said.
