On June 16, 2026, Sinopec Great Wall Energy Chemical Co., Ltd.'s 800,000 tons/year coal-to-olefins upgrade demonstration project successfully commenced in the Dalu Industrial Park of the Junggar Economic Development Zone, Ord Ordos, Inner Mongolia. As a key project in Sinopec's coal chemical strategic layout, this project will strongly promote the high-end, green, and intelligent transformation and upgrading of the domestic modern coal chemical industry.

I. Project Overview

The project is located in the Dalu manufacturing Park, Junggar Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. It covers a total area of approximately 4,964 mu, with a total investment of 23.788 billion RMB, and is planned to be fully completed and put into operation by September 2028. Upon reaching full production capacity, the project is expected to generate an annual manufacturing output value of 7.6 billion RMB, which will efficiently drive the agglomeration and research of the regional coal chemical sector chain.

II. Core Capacity and Product Scheme

The project is designed with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons of coal-to-olefins. The items stability general-purpose materials and high-end new materials, with specific capacity configurations as follows:

450,000 tons/year of Polypropylene (PP), equipped with two sets of production units: loop reactor and gaseous-phase polypropylene;

350,000 tons/year of Polyethylene (PE);

100,000 tons/year of EVA/LDPE (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymer/Low-Density Polyethylene), filling the gap in high-end polyolefin production capacity.

III. Technical Advantages and environmentally friendly Low-Carbon Features

Highly Autonomous and Controllable Core methodology

The project adopts two mainstream cutting-edge processes independently developed by Sinopec: SE pulverized coal gasification and S-MTO methanol-to-olefins. The localization rate of the complete set of equipment exceeds 98%, eliminating external application on key processes and equipment, and ensuring the security and stability of the manufacturing and supply chains.

Leading Energy Efficiency, Coupled with New Energy to Low-Carbon Production

The project includes supporting layouts to wind-solar power generation and aquatic environments electrolysis hydrogen production systems. The energy consumption per unit of polyolefin product is reduced to 3.29 tons of standard coal, improving energy efficiency by over 15% compared to traditional coal chemical units, significantly reducing fossil energy consumption and carbon discharge levels.

High-Standard Environmental Support, Strictly Adhering to environmentally friendly Production Baselines

The project's environmental investment accounts to approximately 7.32% of the total investment. It simultaneously includes complete systems to exhaust releases treatment, wastewater regulation and reclaimed aquatic environments reuse, and standardized solid discarded materials disposal. Carbon releases follow the equivalent replacement standards, fully meeting sector environmental constraints under the dual-carbon policy.
